<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water-base recording liquid having such high driability as to permit high-speed setting favorable for high-speed printing and as not to cause strike-through and to therefore permit both-side setting, to provide an inkjet recording process using the liquid, and to provide an ink cartridge and an inkjet recording using the liquid. <P>SOLUTION: The water-base recording liquid is an ink composition essentially consisting of a water-soluble or water-dispersible colorant, water, a wetting agent, and 2,4-diethyl-1,5-pentanediol.
