PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound that inhibits PDE IV selectively by using a newly synthesized purine derivative. SOLUTION: The new purine derivative is represented by general formula (I) (wherein R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>and R<SP>3</SP>are each independently H, hydroxyl or a lower alkyloxy or a 1-6C alkyl which may be substituted with an acyl, or phenyl group) and includes their pharmacologically acceptable salts.
