PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a frequency of an unnecessary notification when notification for avoiding contact with a following vehicle is provided.SOLUTION: A driving support device 10, when a distance between a following vehicle 30 and a subject vehicle 20 is equal to or less than a predetermined value, provides notification such as turning-on of a rear lamp 16 to the following vehicle 30, and also detects whether a rear-end collision prevention mechanism operates in the following vehicle 30. When the rear-end collision prevention mechanism operates, the notification is suspended due to low necessity for the notification.
