<p>One track is accessed from the sector where a magnetic head has performed on-track. By making one track an access unit, it is possible to eliminate an inaccurate processing of pre-read (lookahead) and reliably decide the seek start timing. Moreover, by starting access at any of the sectors of one track, there is no need of waiting for rotation. As a result, it is possible to minimize the number of times of seek, thereby reducing the access time. Moreover, a sector format for realizing access operation on track basis is utilized. Accordingly, it is possible to reduce the seek time and the rotation wait time during random access and guarantee the data transfer speed of the disk drive.</p> |
