<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolyte which has a crystalline phase expressed by Na<SB>5</SB>XSi<SB>4</SB>O<SB>12</SB>(X consists of ≥1 kind of rare earth elements, such as Dy, Gd, y and Sm), is provided with a skeleton having a network structure for effectively diffusing sodium ions into this phase and high polarizability and has excellent ion conductive properties and chemical stability. <P>SOLUTION: The solid electrolyte consists of a sintered oxide compact containing the rare earth elements (X), such as Dy, Gd, Y and Sm, and having the crystalline phase expressed by Na<SB>5</SB>XSi<SB>4</SB>O<SB>12</SB>and is so composed that the electric conductivity at room temperature attains 10<SP>-3</SP>to 10<SP>-2</SP>S. cm<SP>-1</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
