PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short distance spectrum spread wireless communication system, wherein an operator can execute selection of an opposite communication apparatus on the basis of visual observation without the need for knowing an address and a spread code of the opposite communication apparatus in the case of establishing one to one wireless connection relation to the opposite communication apparatus and to provide the apparatus. SOLUTION: The one wireless communication apparatus informs the other wireless communication apparatus about at least either of a spread code used for transmission by the one wireless communication apparatus and a spread code used for transmission by the other wireless communication apparatus by means of an optical signal. The spectrum spread wireless communication apparatus includes an optical signal emission section having a light emitting diode for emitting an infrared ray and a light receiving section having a photo diode 6, wherein the directivity of the optical signal transmitted from the wireless communication apparatus to the other wireless communication apparatus is selected so that the optical signal can selectively be received by the other wireless communication apparatus without being received by light receiving sections of other wireless communication apparatuses adjacent to the other wireless communication apparatus.
