In the wireless communication system (50), a method is used that combines the transmission of data packets and the transmission of low-delay data. According to one of the variants of the realization of the invention, a service message (56, 58, 60) is transmitted to the receivers (56, 58, 60) over the signalling channel. The message contains data that identify the data destination and the data transmission channel for the data packet. After receiving the service message, the receiver can receive only the data that are designed for the data destination that is indicated in the message. Data packets that are stored in the buffer memory are ignored if the data destination is not indicated in the message. According to the second variant, the service message is transmitted together with the datapacket. According to the third variant, the service message is transmitted in the low-delay data transmission mode.
