DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DISCRIMINATING BIOMETRIC FINGERPRINT

PURPOSE: A device and a method for discriminating a biometric fingerprint are provided to recognize an imitation fingerprint and the biometric fingerprint even if an interfering material such as water and oil is used between the imitation fingerprint and a fingerprint input window. CONSTITUTION: A pair of electrodes(301) are installed to the fingerprint input window(102). An electrode state detector(302) detects an on/off state of the electrodes(301) if an object(22) is contacted to the electrodes(301). A timer(303) detects the passing time after the object(22) is contacted to the fingerprint input window(102). After the timer(303) detects the passing time, a discriminator(304) discriminates the object as the imitation fingerprint if the electrode state is off, and discriminates the object as the biometric fingerprint if the electrode state is on.
