PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a flexible layer material set in a pressure mold from leaking through the gap of the mold when a large pressurizing load is imparted. SOLUTION: A pressure pad 30 for pressurizing a press molding article (article) is provided with a columnar part 34 and a prismatic part 36 whose axially vertical cross section is circular and square respectively. The columnar part 34 is provided with a flexible layer formed with a rubber plate 40, compensating nonparallelism on the surface of the article. The prismatic part 36 is designed to match the shape of the article. On the edge of the upper and lower faces of the rubber plate 40, annular backup rings 46 are arranged. The backup rings 46 having an annular shape generate a nearly uniform surface pressure in the radial direction relative to side molds, eliminating a weak part against the leakage of rubber of the rubber plate 40.
