PURPOSE: Duchesnea chrysantha extract, Ganoderma lucidum extract and a mixture thereof having functions of inhibiting proliferation of cancer cells and promoting cell death of cancer cells are provided. Therefore, they can be effectively used as a pharmaceutical composition for prevention and treatment of leukemia and inducing cell death as well as an inhibitor for cell proliferation. CONSTITUTION: The pharmaceutical composition contains Duchesnea chrysantha(Zoll. et Morr.)Miq. extract, Ganoderma lucidum(Leyss. exFr.) Karst. extract and a mixture thereof as an effective ingredient. The Duchesnea chrysantha extract is obtained by extracting in an organic solvent, adding an organic solvent to the obtained residue to separate a water layer/an organic solvent layer, adding alcohol to the obtained water layer to obtain alcohol fractions and then adding alcohol to the alcohol fractions to precipitate. The Ganoderma lucidum extract is obtained by extracting in water at high temperature, adding alcohol to the obtained residue, adding an organic solvent to the obtained alcohol fractions to separate a water layer/an organic solvent layer and then removing the organic solvent layer by concentrating under reduced pressure. The solvent is selected from the group consisting of halogenated hydrocarbons such as dichloromethane, chloroform, tetrahydrochloride or the like, and acetone.
