BLOOD GLUCOSE LOWERING AND ANALGESIC COMPOSITION

PURPOSE: A composition containing a solvent fraction of Carduus crispus L. extract having blood glucose lowering actions and analgesic effects as an effective ingredient is provided. Therefore, the composition can be used as an agent and an adjunct for treatment of diabetes, and an analgesic excellent in safety during oral or peritoneal administration. CONSTITUTION: The blood glucose lowering and analgesic composition contains an extract of Carduus crispus L.(SJ-2101). For example, 3kg Carduus crispus L. is agitated with 5L hexane at 60deg.C for 6hr and filtered, the residue is extracted at in 5L 80% methanol at 50deg.C for 6hr. Thereafter, the filtrate is concentrated, suspended in 2L distilled water and subjected to solvent fraction in 2L methylene chloride at room temperature three times to produce SJ-2101.
