METHOD FOR ADAPTIVELY DECIDING MOTION VECTOR AREA

PURPOSE: A method for adaptively deciding a motion vector area is provided to improve the performance of a digital video equipment using an H.26L moving picture compression by realizing high speed encoding in the digital video equipment. CONSTITUTION: Horizontal and vertical motion vectors of macro blocks adjacent to a macro block to be currently processed are decided respectively. Horizontal and vertical local motion vector maximum area values of the macro block to be currently processed are decided respectively from the motion vectors of the adjacent macro blocks. Minimum values of horizontal and vertical motion vectors of the macro block to be currently processed are defined respectively. The decided local motion vector maximum area values are compared with the minimum values of the motion vectors for deciding horizontal and vertical motion vector maximum area values within the maximum and minimum values.
