PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an abrasive material recycling method allowing a spent abrasive material mainly composed of a rare earth metallic oxide such as a cerium oxide, to be recycled as a compound of rare earth metal corresponding to various uses. SOLUTION: This abrasive material recycling method is characterized by recovering the compound of rare earth metal from a solution obtained by heating after adding hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide to the spent abrasive material containing the rare earth metallic oxide.
