PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-core optical fiber fusion splicing device which can easily position an optical fiber at a correct position even when the number of coated optical fibers of a ribbon is different. SOLUTION: The multi-core optical fiber fusion splicing device, equipped with positioning grooves 15A and 15B for positioning optical fibers 13A and 13B in parallel on both the sides of a discharge area 9 of opposite electrodes 3 and 5 and also equipped with clamps 17A and 17B which freely move up and down to press the optical fibers 13A and 13B against the positioning grooves 15A and 15B, are provided with movable covers 19A and 19B which freely cover the positioning grooves 15A and 15B on the top surface of an optical fiber holding base 7 having the positioning grooves 15A and 15B on the top surface so that they can be moved and positioned in the parallel direction of the positioning grooves 15A and 15B; and the movable covers 19A and 19B cover the side top surface of the optical fiber holding base 7 so as to avoid interference with the clamps 17A and 17B.
