PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photocatalyst carrier capable of increasing the surface area of a photocatalyst disposed on the surface of a substrate. SOLUTION: The photocatalyst carrier 10 is obtained by nearly vertically sticking a great number of slender first fibrous bodies 16 coated with a photocatalyst 14 comprising anatase-type titanium dioxide (TiO<SB>2</SB>) on the surface of a substrate 12 with an adhesive 18 comprising a material having UV transmittance (e.g. inorganic and hybrid inorganic binders such as an alkali silicate binder, an ethyl silicate binder, an alkoxysilane binder, an alkoxysilane binder into which organic functional groups have been partially introduced and an alkoxysilane binder reacted with an organic polymer).
