<p>5-Vinyl-5-(alpha-ethylpropyl)barbituric acid (I) and its salts possess hypnotic, sedative and anti-convulsant activity. (I) is e.g. prepd. by reaction of acetylene with 5-(alpha-ethylpropyl)barbituric acid in an autoclave. (I) is administered in free acid or alkali salt form in 100 mg. dragees, 200 mg suppositories or 100 mg injections, all being given 2 to 3 times daily.</p> |
