The filter comprises a housing with a cylindrical wall (3), a base (5) with an inlet (12), an outlet (7) and a purging channel (13). Its inner chamber (11) contains a removable filter cartridge (14) with a plug (19) between the lower end of its central well (16) and the outlet. The upper tubular end (20) of the plug has an annular elastic collar (25) that makes contact with an annular projection (26) on the base (5) and seals the outlet. A series of radial fingers (29) on the plug below the collar hold the plug in place when the filter cartridge is removed.
