PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce streaks or unevenness surely even when the recording characteristics of one recording element vary with time. SOLUTION: When recording is performed by record scanning where a recording head having recording elements is moved relatively on a recording medium, an image recorded through movement of the recording head is read out (S102), difference data between data to be recorded originally and actually read out data is determined (S103), and then the difference data is recorded while being superposed on an image recorded by adding image data to be recorded in next record scanning (S104).
