The chair has two seat parts (10, 12), the second part (12) being movable between a first position (12) essentially parallel to the first part (10) and a second position (12) slanting upwards or downwards relative to the first part. A support device (16) holds the second part in its first position but when in the resting position it allows the second part to adopt its second position. A return mechanism is used to urge the support device into the support position where it holds the second part in its first position.
