A tabless battery comprising anode (3), cathode (5) and separator (7) is housed in a sealed package (9). The packaging material for the battery comprises a conductive material (13), a protective polymer material (15) and a sealing material (11). At least a portion of the interior surface of the conductive material is exposed to form an internal contact between at least one electrode and the conductive material. At least a portion of the exterior surface of the conductive material is also exposed to form an external contact between the electrode and the device.
