PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the display quality of a planar display element such as a liquid crystal display element by making the supporting mark of a substrate supporting body supporting an insulating substrate inconspicuous at the time of applying an insulating resin for forming a color filter layer on the insulating substrate.

SOLUTION: The radius of curvature R of the peripheral edge 32a of the first substrate supporting body 32 of a first spinner 30 is defined as R=150 [mm] and a glass substrate 17 is sucked and supported by the first substrate supporting body 32. The photosensitive resins 34r, 34g and 34b of R (red), G (green) or B (blue) are applied during high-speed rotation and the temperature change of the glass substrate 17 in the area of the peripheral edge 32a of the substrate supporting body 32 is moderated.
