<p>An ultrasonic system for locating and imaging a waveguiding object through an interposing medium. The system includes a main unit (102) operatively connectable to a first probe (104), a second probe (106) and a user interface (108) and a display device. (110) The main unit (102) includes a multiplexor (MUX), (112) a pulser/receiver (PUL/REC) (114), an analog-to-digital converter (A/D) (116), and a digital processing unit (computer) (118). The first probe (104) includes a number of ultrasound transducers capable of emitting and receiving ultrasonic oscillations. The second probe (106) includes one or more conventional ultrasound transducer capable of emitting ultrasonic energy towards the waveguiding object through the interposing medium. The user interface (108) is designed and constructed to accept an input of data from an operator of the system. The display device (110) is designed and constructed to display one or more item of information pertaining to the waveguide.</p> |
