摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stainless steel which can be cold-worked and has superior outgas characteristics and machinability. SOLUTION: The stainless steel comprised, by mass%, 0.1% or less C, 0.05-2.00% Si, 0.5% or less Mn, 16-25% Cr, 0.01-0.3% Te, and 0.005-0.03% O, one or two of 0.15-0.50% S, and 0.15-0.50% Se, while satisfying a component ratio of Mn/S of 1.5 or less, and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities. The cold working method for the stainless steel superior in outgas characteristics and machinability, is characterized by cold-working the above steel at a strain rate of 1/s or higher and a working rate of 30% or higher. The stainless steel superior in outgas characteristics and machinability further includes, by mass%, 1.0% or less Mo and/or 0.3% or less Pb, in addition to the above components.
