APPARATUS FOR DETECTING CRACK ON EDGE OF STRIP USING HEATING UNIT

PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting crack on the edge of strip using the principle that temperature difference is generated between the edge crack part and non-edge crack part as an edge crack part is cooled first when cooling the heated crack on the edge of strip after heating crack on the edge of the strip is provided. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for detecting crack(19) on the edge of strip(18) comprises a transfer unit for proceeding the strip; a heating unit(11) for heating the edge part of the strip; a linear or area type infrared camera(15) capable of controlling speed for scanning temperature of the strip in proportion to proceeding speed of the strip to detect temperature distribution on the surface of the strip passing through the heating unit; and a detection unit for detecting crack parts by analyzing image signals obtained from the infrared camera, wherein the heating unit(11) comprises a slide driving device(12) for driving the heating unit; a temperature control device(13) for maintaining temperature of the strip constantly by controlling a distance between the strip and heating unit by the driving device; and a speed detection device for controlling the driving device according to proceeding speed of the strip.
