PURPOSE: A power saving control apparatus for a mobile communication terminal and a method therefor are provided to turn off a backlight when a speaker portion of the mobile communication terminal is contacted to the body of a user in a state in which the backlight is turned on. CONSTITUTION: A body contact sensing switch(110) senses the contact of the body of a user. A backlight(120) emits a light for shining on a keypad and an LCD of a mobile communication terminal. A control unit(130) turns off the backlight(120) when the contact of the body of the user is sensed by the body contact sensing switch(110) in a state in which the backlight(120) is turned on. |
