<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operating speed of an optical transmission and reception device which is suitable to a high-speed optical communication system, in simple structure, and economical, specially, a progressive wave type element which uses a compound semiconductor by an easy technique. <P>SOLUTION: A mount substrate 1001 having a high-frequency electric line 1002 and a semiconductor optical element which is previously designed for high frequencies are individually manufactured and the mount substrate and a driving electrode of the semiconductor optical element are bonded and mounted through a solder material, i.e., constituted by junction-down mounting. Consequently, the high-frequency electric line on the mount substrate is equivalently the progressive wave type electrode of the semiconductor optical element. Further, an electronic element for electrically driving and controlling a light source such as a semiconductor laser and the high-frequency semiconductor element is constituted on the mount substrate by junction-down mounting in addition to the high-frequency semiconductor optical element. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
