Solid wheel for rail vehicles comprising isothermally treated bainitic cast iron with spheroidal graphite and microstructure containing austenite

Melt components comprise (by mass%): 3.4-3.6 carbon (C), 2.2-2.4 Si, 0.6-0.8 copper (Cu), 0.6-0.8 nickel (Ni), 0.2-0.3 molybdenum (Mo), 0.035-0.05 magnesium (Mg), 0.3 manganese (Mn), 0.03 phosphorus (P), 0.01 sulphur (S) and 0.05 chromium (Cr) (maximum). [Cu]+[Ni] = 1.2-1.6 wt.%. [Cu]+[Ni]+[Mo]+[Mn] = 1.4-2.2 wt.% in total. The cast components are annealed austenitically for 3-4 hours at 860-900[deg]C, followed by isothermal soaking in a salt bath at 350-400[deg]C for 3-4 hours. Subsequent air cooling to room temperature follows.
