PURPOSE: A method for sensing the reverse rotation of an engine is provided to prevent the mis-recognition of an error and the lighting of an MIL(Malfunction Indication Lamp), to remove a possibility of a backfire, and to normally start and engine in restarting. CONSTITUTION: A method for sensing the reverse rotation of an engine comprises the steps of reading a pressure sensor signal, an engine rpm(110), pressure sensor maximum and minimum values, and a phase sensor signal, deciding if the pressure sensor signal value is higher than the pressure sensor signal maximum value(120), deciding if the phase sensor signal value is one or not(130), recognizing a load sensor and a phase sensor as normal by sensing the reverse rotation of an engine(140), recognizing the stoppage of the engine(150), and calculating pressure.
