<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method by which a longevity-related gene can surely be specified by forced expression of a gene. <P>SOLUTION: This method is to specify a gene related to the longevity of a drosophila. In the method, a UAS enhancer and a vector used for searching a gene integrated into a temperature-sensitive promoter P element sequence are inserted into the genome of the drosophila. The drosophila expressing a transfer factor GAL4 under control of the temperature-sensitive promoter and a drosophila in which a vector used for searching the gene is inserted are mated to produce an offspring individual thereof. The offspring grown to the adult stage is reared at an action temperature of the temperature-sensitive promoter to thereby forcedly express the gene adjacent to the UAS enhancer in the genome thereof. An individual surviving for a longer period than that of a wild drosophila is isolated to specify the forcedly expressed gene from the isolated individual. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
