The invention relates to a method for carrying out a keyless authorization control in a motor vehicle. A bi-directional communication is established on a wireless transmission path between a transmitter/receiver device associated with the motor vehicle and a mobile transponder in order to carry out an authorization control. A part of the bi-directional communication is a distance determination according to which it is stated whether the transponder is within an admissible distance to the motor vehicle. A distance determination signal is transmitted by the motor vehicle to determine the distance, is received by the transponder and returned. According to the invention, both in the motor vehicle and the transponder, the same distance determination identification identifying a distance determination is converted with the same code key F<sb>K</sb>, F<sb>T</sb> to an encrypted code F<sb>K</sb>[f<sb>K</sb>(V<sb>x</sb>)], F<sb>T</sb>[f<sb>T</sb>(V<sb>x</sb>)]and the action selected by the user is triggered in the motor vehicle when the ACTUAL encrypted code F<sb>T</sb>[f<sb>T</sb>(V<sb>x</sb>)]produced by the transponder and the DESIRED encrypted code F<sb>K</sb>[f<sb>K</sb>(V<sb>x</sb>)]produced by the motor vehicle are identical.
