PURPOSE: A sterilizer of a washing machine is provided to disinfect a washing tub and a dehydrating tub, and to deodorize the bad smell at reaction of remaining detergent to fluff by dissolving harmful components with reaction between ultraviolet rays and photocatalyst. CONSTITUTION: A sterilizer for a washing machine is composed of a control unit(70) regulating operation of the washing machine; an ultraviolet lamp(80) mounted in a cover of a case embedding a washing tub and a dehydrating tub to generate ultraviolet rays according to signals from the control unit; and a photocatalyst(82) reacting on ultraviolet rays from the ultraviolet lamp and accelerating sterilization and deodorization. The oxidizing agent is generated while the photocatalyst reacts on ultraviolet rays and air sequentially. The washing tub and the dehydrating tub are sterilized by dissolving organic materials of harmful components, and the bad smell is deodorized. |
