METHOD OF DEWATERING PAPERMAKING SLUDGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of dewatering papermaking a sludge which can exhibit good filtering and dewatering properties by dealing with a fluctuation in the characteristics of the papermaking sludge as well and can make efficient sludge treatment. SOLUTION: Amphoteric water-soluble polymers which are obtained by selecting two kinds from cationic monomers having specific structures and consist of 5 to 95 mol% in the total thereof and 5 to 50 mol% specific anionic monomer and 0 to 90% nonionic monomer are added and mixed to and with the papermaking sludge and thereafter the papermaking sludge is dewatered by a dewatering machine, by which the papermaking sludge can be dewatered. Even the hardly dewaterable papermaking sludge can be efficiently dewatered by making combination use of the anionic water-soluble polymer or inorganic flocculating agent. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
