The invention relates to a method of optimising the performance of a computer through the use of specific-use sections in the main non-volatile memory unit thereof. The inventive method involves the creation of: a basic unit with specific-use sections with the purpose of separating, at a physical and logical level, elements which are vital to the operation of the equipment, such as the operating system, the dynamic archives, the applications and the user archives; and, optionally, an additional unit for storing non-vital elements which are separated in the same manner. The invention also relates to a secondary method, which complements said first method and which can be used quickly to optimise a free number of identical computers. Furthermore, the invention relates to an optimised main non-volatile memory unit resulting from the use of one of the aforementioned methods. Said invention is advantageous for the owner of the equipment as it minimises the fragmentation of archives and provides a number of proven benefits, such as the maximum possible performance with fewer resources, a more secure schema for archives, optimised defragmentation of the main non-volatile memory unit and an improved cost-benefit ratio; benefits which cannot be achieved simultaneously using standard technology or hitherto published optimisation proposals.
|
