A filter system for extracting water from a rainwater collecting tank has a fixed housing mounted on the floor of the tank and with a cover supported on the rim of the housing by vertical struts. This forms an unimpeded water entry into the housing. The vertical extract duct is set through the cover and is fitted with an intake filter positioned under the cover and above the base of the housing.
