A device for carburization by depression of a marginal zone of a metal component (11) incorporates a reaction chamber (12) in which is a support for the component (11), and into which emerges a tubular nozzle (14) for the injection of reaction gas. This tubular nozzle incorporates at least one injection orifice (15, 16, 17, 18, 20) that injects an essentially homogeneous concentration of reaction gas around the component. An Independent claim is also included for a method for the carburization of a marginal zone of a component using the invented device.
