PURPOSE: A plasma flat lamp is provided to achieve improved luminance and efficiency, while maintaining stable discharge characteristics. CONSTITUTION: A plasma flat lamp comprises an upper plate(10); a lower plate(20) spaced apart from the upper plate; a barrier rib for forming a closed discharge space between the upper plate and the lower plate; a discharge gas accommodated in the discharge space; a first pair of electrodes(31,32) including the first upper plate electrode and the first lower plate electrode which are opposed to each other on the upper plate and the lower plate, respectively, with the discharge space formed between the first upper plate electrode and the first lower plate electrode; and a second pair of electrodes(41,42) including the second upper plate electrode spaced apart from the first upper plate electrode and the second lower plate electrode spaced apart from the first lower plate electrode, wherein the second upper plate electrode and the second lower plate electrode are opposed to each other on the upper plate and the lower plate, respectively, with the discharge space formed between the second upper plate electrode and the second lower plate electrode.
