The spring system for a car hatchback comprises a gas spring attached to the bodywork and to the hatchback. One or both attachment points are fitted with an adjuster which moves the attachment point according to the temperature. This consists of a slide (19) mounted on the gas spring shaft (18) which is moved in a slot in a housing (21) by a stack of bimetallic strips (22).
