PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow member with a damping material excellent for performing the bobbin-type friction stirring and joining operation. SOLUTION: In the hollow member with the damping material for the bobbin- type friction stirring and joining operation in which two or more hollow members 20 are detected, and subjected to the friction stirring and joining operation by a bobbin-type rotary tool 10, an upper surface of the hollow member 20 is formed of at least one damping materials 31 and 32 which are separately disposed on both sides in the right-and-left direction of the rotating bobbin- type rotary tool 10. The damping materials are disposed on root parts of diagonal rib plates 23 and the bobbin-type rotary tool 10 on inner sides of face plates 22 and 24. Since the vertical vibration generated when performing the bobbin- type friction stirring and joining operation can be prevented, a lightweight hollow member can be formed thereby.
