PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring speed of strip using single mode optical fiber is provided to minimize maintenance and break down of the sensor head after installation by simplifying structure of sensor head and enable main components to be maintained even during operation by installing them inside signal processor at a stable position. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for measuring moving speed of strip(1) through laser, the apparatus for measuring speed of strip using single mode optical fiber comprises a signal processor(100) for generating and outputting a laser beam(3) and measuring moving speed of the strip(1) based on frequency of scattered light inputted; a single mode optical fiber (SPF) connected to one end of the signal processor(100) to transmit the laser beam(3) of the signal processor(100) to other connectors and transmit scattered light detected by the connectors to the signal processor(100); and a sensor head(300) connected to the other end of the single mode optical fiber (SPF) to project a laser beam through the single mode optical fiber (SPF) toward the strip and transmit the detected scattered light to the signal processor(100) through the single mode optical fiber (SPF) by detecting scattered light(4) reflected afterwards.
