PURPOSE: A method for managing data of a PVR is provided for users to watch only important part of a stored program by extracting a highlight section of the program, thereby saving time for users. CONSTITUTION: It is searched whether a PVR(Personal Video Recorder) is set up in a highlight extracting mode extracting a highlight section of a received broadcasting program(s210). If so, it is confirmed whether a user sends a highlight extract message(s220). If not, the PVR extracts features of the program stored at a hard disk(s230). The highlight section is extracted by analyzing the extracted features(s240). Only the extracted highlight section is stored at the hard disk(s250).
