DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WITH BAFFLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent hot fine particles in an inflation gas generated by an inflator from making a burned hole when contacting an inflatable cushion of an airbag. SOLUTION: The airbag has a baffle 2 and a heat shield 6. The baffle 2 has a baffle opening part 1 for aligning at least half of inflator opening parts and having area of half of the inflator opening parts at the minimum. The inflation gas from an inflator 10 flows into the baffle 2 and then passes through the baffle opening part 1 into the airbag. Because of the winding flow of the inflation gas in the baffle 2, hot fine particles 13 falls on the bottom of the baffle 2, and thus it does not contact with the inflatable cushion 16.
