PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitor screen for display screen confirmation on a projector. SOLUTION: Reflected light which is not projected on a light transmission diffusion type screen 7 and obtained when a DMD element 5 is off is projected on a light transmission diffusion type screen 7' for the monitor screen and then a positive/negative reversal image of an image which should be projected on the light transmission diffusion type screen 7 is displayed on the light transmission diffusion type screen 7'. The image displayed on the light transmission diffusion type screen 7' is the positive/negative reversal image, but enough for confirmation, so that the display image can be confirmed without installing the light transmission diffusion type screen 7 only by looking at the light transmission diffusion type screen 7' for the monitor screen. The light projected on the light transmission diffusion type screen 7' is unnecessary light which was thermally converted in the projector before and the image for the monitor screen can be obtained at a low cost by using the light.
