<p>An air-operated spinning assembly has an opening cylinder with a perforated pick-up roller, which surrenders fibres via esp. a conveyer belt to a nip-point with a yarn twist-jet. The conveyer belt (15) forms a gusset which is parallel to the pick-up drum (12) and downstream to the fibre (5) collection zone. The minimum distance (0.2 - 0.7 mm) between the conveyer belt and pick-up roller is set to allow mechanical pick-up, diverting the fibres through 90 degrees to the nip point. The non air-permeable conveyer belt is tangential to the pick-up drum and has a micro-roughened surface with a high coefficient of friction. The drive unit advances the conveyer belt at the same speed or slightly faster than the pick-up drum.</p> |
