PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for high lift work, and a method for high lift work for easily fixing a post to support a wire rope. SOLUTION: This safety device for high lift work has a post 12 having a hooking section 11 to which a wire rope for a safety belt is hooked, and a base 13 to vertically support the post 12. By vertically moving the base 13 by a vertically moving device, the base 13 is pressed to the bottom section of a heavy article from the bottom. Thus, the post 12 is fixed. The base 13 has a structure that two channel materials 13a which are arranged in parallel on the same horizontal surface, and a channel material 13 which is orthogonal to the channel materials 13a are combined. In this case, the two parallel channel materials 13a respectively have a U-shaped cross section which opens downward. Then, in the U-shaped space section, two forks of the vertically moving device having casters can be inserted.
