PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunction without fail in performing high-speed bidirectional communication as well as to achieve cost reduction with a simple circuit construction. SOLUTION: The bidirectional level converter circuit 1 is used for a communication system in which the backend CPU 2 and a changer microcomputer 3, each operating voltage is different, are connected by the I<2> C bus 4. The 1st diode D1 anode and the 2nd diode D2 cathode is connected with the backend CPU 2 terminal, and the first resistor R1, the second resistor R2 and the third resistor R3 are connected in series between voltage source and the earth potential. Also, the first diode D1 cathode is connected with the connection point 'a' between the first resistor R1 an the second resistor R2, the second diode D2 anode is connected with the connection point 'b' between the second resistor R2 and the third resistor R3, and the connection point 'a' between the first resistor R1 and the second resistor R2 is connected with the changer microcomputer 3 terminal.
