PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized camera which has superior portability and is operated through a remote control unit by providing a reception part to the camera body side and allowing the remote control unit to be attached to and detached from the camera body. CONSTITUTION:The titled camera consists of the camera body 1, the remote control unit 2 which is attachable on and detachable from the camera body, the reception part 3 built in the camera body, and a photodetection window 4 provided in front of an infrared photodetecting element, the light emission window 5 of the remote control unit, and a transmission part 7 built in the remote control unit. Then, the infrared-light emission part 5 of the remote control unit 2 and the photodetection window 4 of the camera body face each other, so the transmission part 7b operates with a release button 6 pressed to emit a specific infrared-light pulse from the light emission window 5 and the infrared-light pulse is made incident on the photodetection window 4 to put the electric circuit part 3b of the reception part in operation, thereby releasing the shutter in the camera body 1.
