PURPOSE:To concentrate or separate one isomer from a mixture containing at least two kinds of isomers selected from o-, m- and p-dichlorobenzenes in extremely high efficiency, by using a ZSM-type zeolite as an adsorbent. CONSTITUTION:The adsorptive separation of a dichlorobenzene isomer mixture containing at least two kinds of isomers selected from o-, m- and p- dichlorobenzenes with a zeolite-type adsorbent is carried out by using a ZSM- type zeolite as an adsorbent. The ZSM-type zeolite is an adsorbent having unique properties characterized in that the adsorptivity of the isomers to the ZSM-type zeolite increases in the order of o-, p- and m-isomers and the difference between the adsorptivities is extremely large. The use of the adsorbent enables not only the separation of an isomer from a mixture of three kinds of isomers but also the separation of an isomer from a mixture of two kinds of isomers selected from the above three isomers. The adsorbent can be used repeatedly over a long period.
