PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carpet having a deodorizing function which can exert an excellent deodorizing effect on any offensively smelling substances among nonenal, indole, skatole, or isovaleric acid, which are known as body odors generating conspicuously from an aged person, and are called mostly nursing care odors. SOLUTION: The carpet 1 is provided with zirconium phosphate to be contained at least in one part of component members. Among all, in terms of the preferable structure to be employed, the zirconium phosphate is provided on the undersurface of a carpet base material 3, or is made to be included dispersingly in a resin, rubber, or the like which constitutes a backing layer 4. As a deodorant, an odor-absorbing composition such as silicic acid is preferable to be utilized in combination, otherwise than a single use of the zirconium phosphate.
