Producing casting molds comprises forming molding material blocks made from binder-containing molding sand, plastic, graphite, wood material or other material which can be milled having parameters corresponding to a hollow chamber depth of up to 300 to 400 mm; forming the inner contour of the mold using a milling tool having a milling diameter of 12 up to 35 mm; milling the hollow chamber by rapid milling; and post-treating the surface of the molding material. An Independent claim is also included for a milling tool for carrying out the process.
