PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for blocking leak of microwave capable of ensuring the safety of a user by blocking the microwave leaked by the broken resonator of a lighting system using microwave to prevent a fire caused by the leak of microwave. SOLUTION: This device for blocking the leak of microwave in the lighting system comprises an electrodeless bulb for generating light by the microwave from a magnetron; a sensing part mounted on the outside of the resonator for passing the light from the electrodeless bulb but blocking the microwave, which outputs a sensing signal by sensing the presence of leak of microwave in real time; and a control part for ON/OFF controlling the power supply applied to the magnetron according to the sensing signal.
